Alkalinity: Kits use titrations with standard acid to the phenolphthalein (P) and/or total (T) alkalinity endpoint. Where hydroxyl (OH) alkalinity is determined directly, the sample is pretreated with barium to precipitate carbonates. All results are expressed as CaCO₃.
